Riverview Comes Out Strong In 21 – 0 Win Over Quigley Catholic
Junior, Katelyn Davis got the Raider scoring started in the 1st inning with a double to left field that brought home Sophomores, Alyssa Cappa and Kelsey Phillips, who had both walked to start the inning. By the time the 3rd out was recorded for the opening frame, Riverview had posted 13 runs on 7 hits to take a commanding lead in the game. The Raiders would go on to add 8 more runs on 7 hits in the 2nd inning to further extend their lead to 21 runs on route to a 3-inning run-rule victory over the Spartans.
The entire Raider offense contributed to the run total with Davis (3 for 4 with 4 RBI) and Senior, Carys Kenny-Howell (3 for 3 with 3 RBI) leading the charge. Seniors, Alivia Acierno (1 for 3 with 2 RBI) and Alaina Mazur (2 for 2 with 1 RBI), Junior, Allura Jendrasik (3 walks / 3 runs scored) and Sophomores, Alyssa Cappa (2 for 3 with 2 RBI), Kelsey Phillips (1 for 1 with 3 walks / 3 runs scored), Molly Collins (1 for 2 with 3 RBI) and Annie Betler (1 for 2 with 1 RBI) all added to the huge offensive output.
Carys Kenny-Howell earned the win for Riverview, allowing no hits and recording 8 strikeouts and only 1 walk in the 3-inning game.
The Raiders will face Monessen in the 2nd round of the WPIAL Class A softball playoffs at a location and date to be determined.
